New Orleans City Break

The easiest way to get orientated in New Orleans is to divide it into two main sections, Uptown and Downtown, with Lee Circle as the boundary.  Above Lee Circle are the French Quarter and Faubourg Marigny.  The Warehouse Arts District and Central Business District (CBD) border Lee Circle.  Below Lee Circle are Uptown, the Garden District and Audubon Park. When asking directions, the river, not the compass, should be the guide.  Locals seldom refer to north or east but rather to Uptown (up river) orDowntown (down river), lakeside or riverside.

  • Alternatively you could take a New Orleans City Tour with highlights such as the historic Esplanade Avenue and St. Louis Cemetery, referred to as the ‘city of the dead’ because of its above ground tombs.  Wander down to St. Charles Avenue past the Superdome to the French Quarter.
  • Why not visit the Aquarium of the Americas where you can delve into the realms of the under water world and stroll through the Caribbean Reef exhibition.  Visit the wonders of the Mississippi, complete with a rare white alligator, sea birds and sea turtles.  The you could stroll through the French Market situated between the French Quarter and the Mississippi River.
  • For those romantic evenings take a Dinner Jazz Cruise.  You can enjoy panoramic views of the sparkling skyline of New Orleans as you cruise along the lazy Mississippi River.  Sip your favourite cocktail after dinner, dance to the music, or enjoy a romantic stroll along the promenade deck.  You can imagine Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn gently floating along the Mississippi without a care in the world.

Come and see for yourself all the wonderful things that this city has to offer.  Visit the New Orleans website at: www.neworleanscvb.com
